The Chirstmas "Stamps" were sold to raise money for charity via the Christmas Stamp Fund which was used for things such as Tuberculosis Sanatoria. Christmas stamps were introduced to South Africa by a Danish woman, Mrs. Maja Christiansen, in 1929 and found their way into booklets by 1934. These booklets remained in use until 1966 when they were replaced by sheetlets. They did not pay for postage but were often included on Chritmas mail, sometimes to "seal" the envelope. From 1931 onwards they were printed by the Government Printer and were administered through the Post Office. Only in the late 1960s were commercial printers used again for printing.

Please note that this checklist was put together from stock I have and from information given to me by others, so accuracy is not gauranteed. I will update it as new information comes to light.
I also used the Stamps of South Africa Handbook/Catalogue Golden Jubilee Edition, The Philatelic Federation of Southrn Africa, as a reference.
